Affiliate marketing, can you really earn your money with it?

Updated: Dec 19, 2022

Short answer...YES! Is it easy? NO!

So my experience with Affiliate marketing is that it's NOT EASY! and mostly because I don't have a big audience ... and no friends...

So who do you need to sell it to? First things first, you're not going to sell anything when you don't have an audience. This makes total sense, if you try to sell on a market and there is no one, then who are you doing to sell it to?

There are some important questions you need to ask yourself first.

  1. Who am I going to sell it to?

  2. What type of audience do I need to attract?

  3. Where do I get my audience from?

  4. How can I sell it?

You can't sell makeup to someone who will never wear makeup.

But a lot of people will! That's the audience you'll need, now it's on you to convince them to buy your product.

The first thing you can do is, share your product, show them how it works and how well it works. Give them a reason to stay and watch your videos and pictures, share your story, why you love this product and why it stands out from other products.

Review it and share your opinion about the product, this can be both negative and positive. Or compare it to another product you normally use. This can be a great and easy way to win more audience.

If you are an affiliate marketer and you don't have a physical product you can share, then it will be less easier, but not impossible. Now you need to make sure you have content to attract your audience. You can do that by sharing a related niece or maybe pictures/videos someone else made from that specific product, But don't steal others' content and what i mean by that is don't share there self made content and say it was you who made it. Eventually, people will see it or even the person who made it and they won't be happy with it! Be clear and honest about what you share. You either can tag them, change it or share it directly as an ad.

For example: I chose to share a video someone made about the Reminiscience Sheer tint,

I didn't say "just tried these tints and they feel amazing!", then people may think that I made that video. So instead of that, I said: "Look at these tints, don't they look amazing?"

Or I've shared the information about it the product, like the ingredients, that it's sustainable and vegan. Even though you can't share the experience you have with that product, you still can inform and convince people to sell that product through your link or with your coupon. It takes more time, but it's still a great way to get more audience.

An important thing in creating an affiliate post and keeping your audience is to engage with your audience, ask them questions, like which product do you want to try? or have you already tried this? Ask them to tag a besty or family member and react to their comments. Make them part of the conversation!

Selling products as an affiliate marketer takes time. So don't worry if you don't make a sale after a week or even after a month. It takes patience and a lot of motivation to get there, if it doesn't motivate you or you don't quite believe in it anymore, then it maid be not the thing for you and it may take longer to get any sales. Take your time! Even if you have a day that you don't feel like doing anything, then take that break! It's even better to take a break once in a while, because then you can concentrate on a lot of important things or even great ideas! Give your mind a rest, you often get great ideas when you're bored.
